A message from Bop's Brigade
On Saturday, February 8, 2025, our family and friends will jump in the Atlantic Ocean in honor of our dad and grandfather, Arthur Geiger, aka "Bop" who has been living with ALS since 2022. This is our second annual plunge honoring our incredibly resilient, always smiling, Vietnam Veteran, Bronze Star Medal of Honor recipient for Combat Valor, Marine Corp Captain Arthur Geiger. We are reporting for duty on February 8th to do our part to raise awareness for the disease and the good work of the Joan Dancy Foundation at the Jersey Shore.
Most of all we are reporting for duty to show Captain Geiger we are with him in his daily struggle. He is an incredible man who has never once complained or wondered why me. When I told him one day when the two of us went to lunch together at the Avon Pavilion in the spring of 2022 that God gave him a "really heavy cross" he simply shrugged and said with his twinkly eyes and bright smile, "it doesn't feel that heavy". Since that day he has gone from walking poles to a wheelchair and more. I am pretty sure he offers each day of suffering for his beloved wife, Peggy, his four children, their spouses and 14 grandchildren. In his mind, why complain about that.
