A message from Riding for Roger

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, hundreds of us from Monmouth County and beyond will choose to jump in icy ocean water as an act of solidarity with our local pALS (people with ALS) because they are conquering immensely greater fears every minute of every day.

The "plunge" we're asking you to make doesn't involve freezing cold water -- but it will make a big splash in the lives of our PALS. Simply click the "Donate" button above to make a secure online donation today.

On March 13, 2024, Roger Warren Tray passed away peacefully at home, surround by his loving family after a courageous battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

A lifelong resident of Brick, NJ - Roger was loved by many for his dependability and sarcastic humor. Throughout his teenage years, you could find him playing ice hockey for BTHS or causing a bit of chaos with his buddies. In his young adulthood, Roger started his

entrepreneurial journey as a co-owner of a Spring Auto Wreckers, an auto recycling yard in Jackson, NJ. Thereafter, he continued his career in auto dealership independently over several decades. Roger pivoted directions to flipping real-estate and most recently as a heavy

machinery operator. No matter the industry, Roger excelled at working with his hands, executing business deals and creating a network of friends who jumped at any chance to help

him bring his ideas to fruition.

Outside of work, Roger’s self proclaimed greatest accomplishment was being a “girl dad”. He raised three beautiful, strong-willed and independent women, Kaitlyn, Rebecca and Alexandra, who he boasted about any chance he got, and a grandfather to two more beautiful girls, Ellie and Georgia.

Roger enjoyed spending his time riding motorcycles, watching Nascar, playing first captain on the boat and having the best front lawn on the street. On any given Sunday, you could find him

flipping bacon and frying eggs for his family, while blasting Queen and Bruce Springsteen on the radio. While he put on a tough guy exterior, he poured his heart and soul into his family and closest family friends up until his very last day.

Thanks for joining the family!
