A message from Eric Sauer
It has been almost 3 ½ years since Karen passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). During this time some progress has been made in the fight against this terrible disease but there is still no cure in sight. The burden of care still lies with the family and this is where Joan Dancy and PALS (people with ALS) comes in. The Joan Dancy Foundation works directly with families of ALS patients. Some of the services they provide include in home nursing visits, social worker visits, they work with Medicaid and very closely with one of the two ALS clinics in New Jersey. Additionally, they provide many of the needed home medical devices including but not limited to ramps, transfer chairs, transfer boards, shower accessories, lifts and many other simple household items that we take for granted. They were also there when we needed a shoulder to cry on. Joan Dancy and PALS was there when we needed them most, we could not have cared for Karen the way we did without them. This is an organization that relies entirely on private donations. I am taking this polar plunge to show my support for their good work and to help them raise money to help other families the way they helped us. Please support this amazing organization and sponsor me at this years Joan Dancy and PALS Polar Plunge this February 10th.
On Saturday, February 10, 2024, hundreds of us around Monmouth County and beyond will choose to jump in icy ocean water as an act of solidarity with our local pALS (people with ALS) because they are conquering immensely greater fears every minute of every day.
The "plunge" we're asking you to make doesn't involve freezing cold water -- but it will make a big splash in the lives of our PALS. Simply click the "Donate" button above to make a secure online donation today.
Thanks for joining the family!
