What an icon, thank you for lifting up an American hero of peace and justice.

In 1960, when Ruby Bridges was only six years old, she became the first black child to attend an all-white primary school in Louisiana.

We selected this peace hero because in the future the MVUUF Peace Heroes Trail will be used as part of the MVUUF Youth Religious Education Program. Ruby Bridges’ story is a great one to inspire young children. She was one child who showed courage and went to school even though she was greeted by an angry mob who didn’t want her there. Despite being just six years old she made a difference.
