I'm excited to swim the Newburgh to Beacon swim for the second year. I've also joined the Board of the River Pool at Beacon because I want to be a part of providing safe access to the Hudson River. The Annual Great Newburgh to Beacon swim raised the funds to make a floating pool in the Hudson River a reality. This summer, the pool enters its 15th year of operation.
25 years ago, having a floating pool in the Hudson River for kids was just a dream. Many years of effort resulted in raising awareness to pass legislation that helped clean the Hudson enough for humans to swim safely in it. Getting a safe facility for kids to splash about was the next step.

The Annual Great Newburgh to Beacon swim raised the funds to make a floating pool a reality. This summer, the pool enters its 15th year of operation.

Proceeds from last summer's swim accomplished the following:
1. In the summer of 2024, the floating pool was closed for several days due to national life guard shortages. For summer of 2025, for the first time we will have a professional pool management company staff the job of River Pool manager and all the life guards needed.
2. The board of directors has purchased industrial foam that assists in keeping the brightly colored pool seats afloat. The foam blocks have arrived and will be installed on the weekend of June 14 and 15, along with the rest of the pool.
3. The River Pool organization is sponsoring a water monitoring station within the Fishkill River, which feeds directly into the Hudson River just south of where the River Pool floats each summer.

Please make a contribution to help keep the River Pool at Beacon in service for many summers to come.
