The River Pool is a rainbow colored circular floating pool with a netted bottom. It is securely installed in the Hudson River, located off the north shore of Pete and Toshi Seeger Riverfront Park, in Beacon, NY. Swimmers safely sit & float in The River Pool, to relax and cool off with an on-duty lifeguard. It is free to use and no reservations are required.
The late Pete Seeger, noted American folk singer, and his wife Toshi, were social/environmental activists, and founding members of River Pool. They believed that River stewardship begins with being on, near, and in the river. The value of the pool is in getting young children used to enjoying the river with their families and friends
The River Pool is funded in large part by our Annual Newburgh To Beacon Hudson River Swim in which over 200 people take part in a sponsored swim across the river, a distance of about 1 mile.
