Sadly, this event has been cancelled so swimming across the Hudson will need to be saved for another time!
This event supports River Pool, a community initiative founded by the late American folk singer and environmental activist Pete Seeger and his wife, Toshi Seeger. They believed that river stewardship begins with spending time on, near, and in the water, fostering a personal connection to the Hudson River.
River Pool is a free, rainbow-colored, circular floating pool with a netted bottom, located in the Hudson River just off the north shore of Pete and Toshi Seeger Riverfront Park in Beacon, New York. With a certified lifeguard on duty, visitors of all ages can safely swim, sit, and float while enjoying the river.
Each June, dedicated volunteers install River Pool for the summer season, and in September they carefully remove it from the river, ensuring it can continue to provide a safe and welcoming place for the community year after year.
I have not done open water swimming since my brief venture with triathlons back in 2007 so we will see how it goes:)
