For 25 years, United Way’s South Sound 2-1-1 has been a lifeline for Pierce, Lewis and Thurston County residents. Thanks to South Sound 2-1-1, United Way of Pierce County can:

• Keep people housed. South Sound  2-1-1 assists people with rent, mortgage and move-in assistance when needed
• Keep people fed and clothed. South Sound 2-1-1 assists families with finding local food and clothing resources
• Keep families warm in the winter. South Sound  2-1-1 refers people to utility assistance programs
• Provide access to health care. South Sound  2-1-1 refers people to dental, vision and general health care resources
• Help people keep more of their income. South Sound 2-1-1 helps get families the tax credits they are eligible for
• Get people where they need to go. South Sound 2-1-1 refers people to transportation so they can get to work, medical appointments and more

When the power was shut off and the money wasn’t there to turn it back on, Jamie didn’t know what to do. With a 2-year-old, being without electricity and heat during the winter months wasn’t an option. She needed help.

Jamie turned to South Sound 2-1-1. ”It was hard phone call to make. We’re proud people, and we don’t easily ask for help. We tried to get by as long as we could.”
