Hi and thank you for visiting my page!

July 27, 2024:
What a day! Hudson was kind to us many swimmers, organization of the event ran smoothly, weather was perfect, and it was an uplifting experience. Deeply grateful for the help you gave - we went and exceeded my fundraising goal!
PS

At home now and resting, I added our family gift to this.  I feel very proud of what we accomplished together.  Let’s see the kids enjoy summers by the Hudson, and swimming!
Peace out :)

July 26, 2024:

Dear Friends, thank you for your generocity and support! It’s the eve of the event, can you believe!?! I’ve had many a morning swim at our lake before the motorboats started their engines this summer. Such a peaceful way to start a day. I swam among water lilies, from dock to dock with dragon flies and sun fish, and even through floating Mimosa flowers. At some point I got myself this floating neon color baggie that trailed me so I could be seen from distance - some boaters liked the morning hours as much as I, and it made me more visible. All went well, I got miles under my (neon floater) belt, and I feel as ready as I can be with this time frame for the event. So, while my stomach is a little wobbly, I’m so excited to go ahead tomorrow.
And now, a good night’s sleep.
Nighty night! Hyvää yötä!

Spring, 2024:

You may not know that I used to be a competitive swimmer in my teens, even if not a great one ;), and was also trained to coach younger swimmers as I grew older. My takeaway was this deep love of water and the joy it brought to me to share that with younger ones. Now, a whole Atlantic over from my childhood lakes and pools in Finland, I am again returning to the soothing process of swimming here in Hudson Valley, NY. I just started swimming in a lap pool and oh lord do my arms ache. But soon I can return to Oscawana Lake to continue to condition myself for the longer stretch of crossing the Hudson river in July. I hope you will join me and support my effort to fundraise funds for River Pool program where kids can enjoy swimming in safety and natural setting. Let's make a splash!

Love, Helena
